Pre(N)atura | Fonocene project is situated at the confluence of technology and humanity, exploring new forms of identity and connection in a world where the barriers between the natural and the artificial are blurred. In line with the Techno-Human theme of ISEA2025, this work investigates how advanced technology—from artificial intelligence to forms of sound and music creation, in this case live coding—activates a deep reflection on the interdependence between human beings and non-human entities.
In this sense, Pre(N)atura | Fonocene embraces the principle of interdisciplinary collaboration, fusing sound art, video games, and creative programming to create an immersive narrative experience. Chthulucene entities, speculative representations of hybrid beings and mycelia, emerge to question traditional forms of communication and belonging, using deep listening as a means to awaken a collective consciousness about our coexistence with other life forms.
This speculative narrative breaks with established hierarchies, inviting a fusion of ancestral languages and contemporary technology that expands the possibilities for dialogue and learning. The work, therefore, not only seeks to “captivate the heart” of the viewer through its emotional immersion, but also encourages an expansion of horizons, by exploring how technological tools can connect us with the non-human in profound and transformative ways.
Pre(N)atura | Fonocene represents a platform for experimentation in which language, sound and technology collaborate to generate new possibilities for experience and critical reflection. By transcending the boundaries of the human, the work becomes a space where the future of techno-humanity is articulated through symbiosis and mutual care, aligning with the urgent need to rethink our relationship with the world we inhabit and the beings with whom we cohabit.
