Gao Yujie holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in the Digital Arts and Humanities program, where she is a Sessional Lecturer in Creative and Media Studies. Her generative participatory performance work studies the materiality of duration and explores the elasticity of space and time in rule-based interactive environments. Her MFA is in Media Art Design from the Central China Normal University, Wuhan, China. Her work has been exhibited and performed internationally in art festivals, museums and galleries, including Venice International Performance Art Week, K11 Art Space, Today Art Museum, and Guanshanyue Museum. Her work won an Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica 2022 and was also longlisted for the global digital art award – the 2017 Lumen Prize.
