In the space of the installation for the public participation art project “Are you OK?” (artport), we had an open-air concert with musicians representing Nagoya. The venue, “Minatobashi-hiroba Park” was formerly a canal of the city. The installation which attempted to revive “the remembrance of the water” had the pier to lead you to ISEA2002 venue. At the finale of the performance, we let ladies dressed in kimonos from the local women’s society cross the pier. The jaunty rhythm of the violin and guitar relaxed you thoroughly and then the sublime sound of Noh flute echoed throughout the port area. The half an hour performance became a condensed moment of “Orai” from ancient to present, the east to the west, and music to arts.
