Lily Diaz works with language and images. Her interests focus on the areas of ‘history, myth and representation. Her work in video and interactive art has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has taught and lectured in Europe, Latin America and the United States. Currently she is a research fellow at the Media Laboratory of the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Finland. She has a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude with Honors in Anthropology, from Brandeis University and was a fellow in the Studio Program of the Whitney Museum of American Art. She received a Fulbright fellowship for 1990-91, to conduct research for an interactive piece about the scientific techniques utilized by the Europeans to visualize the newly acquired lands in the American continent.

I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in Venezuela and Puerto Rico. I attended university in the United States. My educational background is in anthropology (Brandeis University), computer arts (School of Visual Art, NYC), and new media (University of Art and Design Helsinki/UIAH). Lily Diaz (The University of Rochester/Ahead Energy Institute, USA) is a multimedia specialist at the City University of New York, College of Staten Island. She has a B.A. in anthropology from Brandeis University and received an M.F.A. degree in computer art from
School of Visual Arts. A Fulbright scholar and graduate of the Independent Study Program at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Ms. Diaz has lectured and shown her work in México, Puerto Rico, Spain and the United States.
