Artist Statement:
Genesis After Babel is a performance art “loop”. The creation theme of Genesis is used as a “language loop” to address Steiner’s theory expressed in “After Babel” of the impossibility of true translation between different languages. The loop should personify the image of the ancient uroboros (the serpent eating its tail), originally the symbol of the self-perpetuating image of Man; now come to represent the loop of technology’s self-generating inter-dependence within a world of created image and intelligence.
