Nhlakanipho Mkhize is a multimedia artist, who specializes in painting, drawing, and sculpture to express his intellectual ideas. Mkhize was born in 1993 at Umbumbulu on the KZN South Coast, South Africa. Mkhize is a graphic design student at the Durban University of Technology and works as a full time practicing artist. He is also a member of Amasosha Art Movement, a collective of young Durban artists that promotes hard work and solidarity amongst artist.
Mkhize’s work questions the legacy of imperialism in post-apartheid South Africa, and how it has reshaped community culture. He questions the social engineering imposed on indigenous people, and how it has shifted them from their indigenous values.
