Artist Statement:
Out of this World is a unique performance demonstration of Inhabited Television, a new media form which combines broadcasting and shared virtual worlds. A participatory game show, `Out of this World’ is set entirely within a 3D graphical environment representing an alien planet in outer space. Two teams of audience-controlled avatars race against each other and are confronted with challenging tasks like frog flipping and the harvesting of hanging fish. After you’ve experienced Out of this World, game shows will never be the same again.
Out of this World is a collaborative research project created by British Telecom, Illuminations Television and the University of Nottingham as part of European Union’s eRENA programme.
