Artist Statement:
Keith Rowe trained as a painter and has brought many of his artistic insights to bear upon the guitar, redefining the role of that instrument. A founder member of the improvising group AMM, now in its 33rd year, he has also worked in the contexts of indeterminate music and ‘peoples process’ music. Many have been influenced by his techniques including Syd Barratt and Fred Frith. As well as the many recordings of AMM he has also made solo recordings including A Dimension of Perfectly Ordinary Reality (Matchless Recordings, 1990). He has recently formed the ensemble Music in Movement Electronic Orchestra.
