Artist Statement:
Migrations is a live electronic work. The sounds of the work are for the most part recordings produced using light-sensitive microphones. Other sounds are obtained by friction on materials whose resonance has been amplified. The sounds take their place in a temporal series determined by the working of a group of electronic “keys”. These keys are directed by several audio cassette players which are never positioned in exactly the same manner so that the relationship between the sounds remains largely unpredictable.
