Call for Volunteers
Volunteer Opportunity
The International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) is looking for volunteers to get involved in a couple of major international projects. We need help working on:
1. an archive of thousands of ISEA artworks, academic papers, and abstracts of presentations (1988-2024 and ongoing).
2. a project to interconnect new media art archives from around the world.
This is a golden opportunity for students, teachers, professionals, retirees, media historians, archivists, computer scientists, and digital artists to work on an exciting project that has world-wide exposure.
We have positions available for a variety of tasks including:
- Inputting data into fields (copy/paste)
- Problem-solving & programming
- Formatting images
- Research (web based)
- Grant writing, sponsorship and fundraising
Benefits:
- Teachers could assign students from diverse backgrounds to work on the archive in order to gain insight into the world of emerging arts.
- Students could do an internship and possibly earn course credit points through their school by working on the archive.
- Students (and volunteers) may receive a certificate of participation and will be credited on the Archives’ Websites.
- Retired professors or professionals in the field find it very satisfying to contribute to this project and work with people from around the world.
- This is an incredible media art learning experience. Volunteers interested in art & technology can develop a professional network.
The ISEA Archives
Our online ISEA Symposium Archives consists of two versions. The new Interconnected archive is currently approximately 85% complete with 28 symposia, 10,000 people, 6000 presentations, 400 workshops, and 4000 art events already entered. The Classic Archive is practically up-to-date.
