  • ISEA2020

    Ellen Pearlman (RISEBA University, Riga, Latvia) is a New York based new media artist, educator, critic and writer. She is a Senior Researcher Assistant Professor at RISEBA University, Latvia, Director of ThoughtWorks Arts, a Fulbright World Learning Specialist, Vertigo STARTS Laureate and Zero1 American Arts Incubator/U.S. State Department of Cultural Affairs artist. Ellen obtained her PhD from City University Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media where her thesis was awarded highest global honors by Leonardo LABS Abstract.

    Ellen Pearlman is a new media artist, curator and critic. She is on faculty at Parsons/New School New York, USA, and an Assistant Professor Senior Researcher at RISEBA University in Riga, Latvia. A Fulbright World Learning Specialist, she was awarded an EU 2019 Vertigo STARTS Residency. She is also Director of ThoughtWorks Arts in New York City.

    Ellen Pearlman, a New York based artist, writer, curator and critic is a faculty member of Parsons/New School MFADT and Co-Director of the ThoughtWorks Arts Residency. She is a Ph.D. candidate and former Instructor at the School of Creative Media at Hong Kong City University. Ellen is also Director and Curator of the New York Volumetric Society, President of Art-A-Hack(TM) and was a Visiting Scholar at Parsons/New School University in New York. Her brain opera “Noor”, a fully immersive interactive opera premiered at ISEA Hong Kong and the Microwave International Festival, HK. Ellen also co-founded the first Summer Institute in Telematic Art with Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Videotage to create an internationally linked global interactive telematic performance while FUSE Digital Artist in Residence at Videotage.

    Ellen has lectured at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia as part of Cyberfest, the New York Electronic Arts Festival and collaborated on digital projects with the Meropolitan Museum of Art’s Media Lab. She was on the Art Panel Review Board for SIGGRAPH ASIA in Yokohama, Japan, a panel judge for ISEA New Mexico and Hong Kong and presented her work at ISEA Istanbul, New Mexico, Dubai, Vancouver, Transmediale Berlin and the Sounds, Image and Data Conference at NYU Steinhardt/Goldsmiths/Leonardo.

    Ellen Pearlman is a PhD candidate at The School of Creative Media, Hong Kong City University, Hong Kong, and a Visiting Research Scholar at Parsons School of Design/New School University, USA. She is also Director and Curator of the Volumetric Society of New York, an Intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Media Lab (NY, USA) and President of Art-A-Hack™.
