Jeff Carter was born in Mountain View, California in 1967 and received a BFA from the University of Colorado in 1992. In the three years following, he traveled extensively in Asia, exhibited several solo large-scale installations, and in 1993 received a New Forms: Regional Initiative Program grant for technical and conceptual innovation in the field of sculpture. He moved to Chicago in 1996 and, as a Trustee Scholar, is currently earning his MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
