  • Karl Klomp is a media artist working as video designer in theater, opera and live events. He integrates new technologies with traditional media such as theater, opera, sculpture, live events, site-specific installations. His resources rang from modern architecture, ancient theater concepts, video- & light art. His practice explores manipulation of our perception in space and time by illumination. His works are better understood as events in time, in which the performance of light, sound and video unfolds.

    Klomp has been commissioned internationally by institutions International Theater Amsterdam, Beijing Music Festival, National Taiwan Museum, Todays Art Den Haag, Steim Amsterdam, STRP festival Eindhoven, Transmediale Festival Berlin, Money Town New York City, Sonic Acts Amsterdam. Artists that use his video tools are Peter Gabriel, Portishead, Motophysco and many other live visual artists. 

    Klomp as worked (2007-2016) as video engineer and assistant video designer for director Ivo van Hove, scenographer Jan Verswyveld and video designer Tal Yarden, director Johan Simons, director Simon Stone. He collaborated with Benjamin Gaulon, Tom Verbruggen and Gijs Gieskes in Refunct Media expositions. Lecture at Academie for Theater and Dance in Amsterdam and School of Art Institute of Chicago.
