Michael Di­eter is a re­searcher on media art and ma­te­ri­al­ist phi­los­o­phy. His writ­ing con­cerns crit­i­cal uses of dig­i­tal and net­worked tech­nolo­gies, and cov­ers top­ics such as loca­tive media, in­for­ma­tion vi­su­al­iza­tion, gam­ing and soft­ware mod­i­fi­ca­tion. He is an on­go­ing con­trib­u­tor to the mag­a­zine Neural, an as­sis­tant ed­i­tor for the In­sti­tute of Net­work Cul­tures and a mem­ber of the ed­i­to­r­ial com­mit­tee of the Fi­brecul­ture Jour­nal. He has taught at Uni­ver­sity of Mel­bourne, AU, and is cur­rently based at Uni­ver­sity of Am­s­ter­dam, NL.
