Ross Rudesch Harley is an artist and writer whose work has been presented at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, New York MoMA, Ars Electronica in Austria, and at the Sydney Opera House. He is also well-known for directing the audio/vision for the Cardoso Flea Circus videos and live performances with Colombian-born artist Maria Fernanda Cardoso. Recent work includes Aviopolis (with Gillian Fuller), a multimedia project and book about airports, Black Dog Publications, London; Busface, a photo-media installation with the Ejecutivo Colectivo exhibited at ArtBasel, Miami; and the DVD installation Cloudscope in collaboration with Durbach | Block architects at Elizabeth Bay House, Sydney. He is a former editor of the journal Art + Text, and has written regular columns on design and popular culture for Rolling Stone and for The Australian national newspaper. In 1992 he was the director of the Third International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA). He is Professor and Head of the School of Media Arts, College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

Ross Harley is a Sydney-based artist and writer who crashes old and new media into the history and future of design. He has created videos and art projects for exhibition since 1986, and has made a number of innovative videos on the work of contemporary artists. His own media projects have been widely exhibited in Australia and abroad. He has written widely on music, cinema, art, and popular culture, is a former editor of the critical journal ART+TEXT. He presently lectures in Theatre/Film Studies at the University of New South Wales. Harley was executive director of TISEA (ISEA92).

Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1961. Graduated (BA Hons) from Griffith University 1982. Has been working in a wide variety of media, creating videos and art projects for exhibition since 1986, most recently the Digital Garden III at Ars Electronica in Austria, 1993. The former editor of the critical journal Art + Text, he was the director of the Third International Symposium on Electronic Art held in Sydney, 1992. More recently he has edited two anthologies, New Media Technologies and Artists in Cyberculture, published by the Australian Film Television and Radio School. He lectures in Theatre/Film Studies at the University of New South Wales.
