Silvana Carotenuto is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Literature in English at the University of Naples (Italy) “L’Orientale”, where she directs the Centre for Postcolonial Studies. Her fields of interest are: deconstruction, gender studies, and visual studies. She publishes on Shakespeare (The Language of Cleopatra. Deconstructive Translations and Survivals, Milano, Marinetti, 2009) and on female writing (in 2002 she translated Three Steps in the Ladder of Writing by Hélène Cixous Roma, Bulzoni, 2002 into Italian). She has been part of the international research ‘Atacd’ (Goldsmiths University, G.B.; Utrecht University, NL; Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale, Italy), and she has directed a series of workshops on ‘migration’, ‘creative writing’ and women.
