    Ulises Unda completed a PhD in Art and Visual Culture at the University of Western Ontario (Canada). He also holds an MFA from Electronic Integrated Arts at Alfred University (NY), and a Master’s in Cultural Studies from the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Ecuador). In his recent artistic activities, Unda has fostered dialogical and collaborative practices of sound/listening that have led him to new perspectives in his ongoing research about cultural difference. Unda’s artwork has been exhibited extensively, including at the Loop Video Art Festival, Barcelona, Spain; the Museum Lu Xun Academy of Fine Art, Shenyang, China; the Queens Museum of Art, NY; the Center for the Development of the Visual Arts, Havana, Cuba; the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile; and the International Biennale of Cuenca, Ecuador. Unda participated in the Artist-in-Residency program at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, (1999 and 2000), and was awarded the Ecuadorian national prize Mariano Aguilera Malta in 2002. He has taught at various universities in the city of Quito (2001–present), curated the exhibition “Contemporary Art in Ecuador” at the Museum Camilo Egas (2007), and organized academic and artistic projects of international scope.
