  • Over the last five years, has grown from a small software initiative to an international community. The software is used by thousands of students, artists, designers, architects, researchers, and hobbyists for learning, prototyping, and production. It is created to teach fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context and to serve as a software sketchbook and professional production tool. Processing is developed by artists and designers as an alternative to proprietary software tools in the same domain. The related projects Mobile Processing, Wiring, and Arduino extend the ideas behind Processing to the contexts of developing software for mobile phones and for interfacing to the world through controlling sensors and motors. These tools are used around the world for teaching in universities, art schools, and arts organizations.
