The classical Hindustani music of North India is rich in history and tradition. Samay Chakra is a computer music installation, written in the MAX/MSP programming language, that incorporates the basic rules of Hindustani music into a continuously controlled, ever-evolving music environment. Through information obtained from the current time and date and also from a variety of sensors (heat, light, and humidity), Samay Chakra improvises the proper music scales.
