Mayumi Okura was born in 1977 in Aichi, Japan. She is an artist and lives and works in Paris, http://mayumi.okura.free.fr . She studied at the Tama Art University in Tokyo (graduated in 2004) and then at the Ecole Superieure d’Art de Nancy in France, from which she graduated in 2007. The main notions she is manipulating in her artistic work are memory, presence and absence, and time and perception. More recently she is investigating the problematic of text reading in artistic interactive installations. Mayumi Okura was selected to participate to the Program of Study Abroad for Artists by the Ministry of Culture of the Japanese Government for 2006-2007 in France. She is currently a Ph.D student at the University of Paris 8, and a researcher at the EnsadLab. Her works have been presented in France, Japan, Switzerland and South Korea and are often integrated in research programs such as TerraNumerica (2010 – Paris – Citu / Cap Digital), or international events like Lift10 (2010 – Geneva – Head Lift and Geneva).
