    Curator and artistic director in the fields of digital arts, electronic music and sound art, Alain Thibault is also the founder of two major events in Montreal, ELEKTRA – an annual festival showcasing performances in digital art since 1999, and the BIAN, International Digital Art Biennale, oriented towards exhibitions, installations and public art since 2012. As an electronic music composer, he has collaborated with visual artists, among them Yan Breuleux (PURFORM Duo). Their works have been presented throughout the local and international scene in several contexts, namely contemporary music and digital art events in North-America (Canada, USA, Mexico), Europe (France, Italy, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Belgium) and Asia (Japan, South-Korea, Taiwan).

    Alain Thibault (music) is a well known electronic music artist. Alain Thibault has contributed to a wide range of multimedia, video, dance and theatre productions. He has composed music for internationally known groups and individuals such as the theatre company Carbone 14 and is presently working with choreographer Edouard Lock on the new Lalala Human Steps’ dance production. His techno opera Lulu-Le chant souterrain, was presented in Montreal in February 2000. He was invited by the Austrian duo Granular Synthesis in June 2000 to present in New York The Undergound Song during the Noise Gate Remix events produced by Creative Time. His music video, a-light, a collaboration with computer animation artist Yan Breuleux, was awarded an honorary mention at the 1998 Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria and his latest work, the multimedia piece FausTechnology, also made with Yan Breuleux, was premiered at ELEKTRA in September 2001.

    ISAE1995

    Alain Thibault was born in Quebec. The music of this composer has been presented in Canada and abroad by the SMCQ, ACREQ, Chants Libres, New Music Concerts, the Canadian Electronic Ensemble and Autumn Leaf. He has composed for theatre production (for Gilles Maheu of Carbone 14), art videos (for Francois Girard) and multimedia works. He teaches computer music at l’Universite de Sherbrooke and is currently Artistic Director of ACREQ.
