I am Associate Professor in Industrial Design and Director of Graduate Studies in the Myron E. Ullman Jr. School of Design at our College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), University of Cincinnati. I was also an Associate Professor in the Industrial Design Department at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Assistant Professor and Director of Graduate Programs in the School of Industrial Design, co-founder and organizer of the Design and Technologies for Healthy Aging (DATHA), and head of the D-Matters Studio Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
My work brings together design, science, and technology to experiment, design and prototype innovative interactive products in the realm of health. My specific interests are in areas related to design for aging, universal design, social innovation, social connectedness, tangible embedded interactions, and robotics. I publish regularly in design, science and technology, human-computer interaction, robotics journals, and diverse conferences, as well serve as a reviewer to prestigious journals such as the International Journal of Design and SAGE Open. I earned a Ph.D. in Information Design from the College of Design at North Carolina State University (NCSU) in 2005.
