  • Diego Paonessa earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte (Buenos Aires). He has focused its research on the relationship between artistic production and production technique. Since 2000, he has lived and worked in Barcelona. In recent years, he has completed the doctoral program in the digital age painting at the University of Barcelona and received a grant for artistic creation from Guasch Coranty Foundation. In 2008 he was also awarded the scholarship granted by the Carta Blanca FAD (Promotion of the Arts and Design), where he developed an interdisciplinary research project.

    During 2011 he participated as a collaborator at Visualizar 2011 Medialab-Prado and had an artist residence at Corelabs [New Media Art Production Center] in Beijing. In 2012, he was selected at BCN Producció 12 for a project of intervention in the Espai Cub Capella in Barcelona. In 2013, he completed a specialization course of Interaction Design and Usability (UOC), participated as collaborator at Interactivos 2013 Medialab-Prado and had artist residence at Variable, Constant Association for Art and Media, Bruselas. In 2014, he received the 2nd prize of the Biennale Kosice Latin American Edition. He received the Baden Württemberg-Catalonia Scholarship 2016 for the realization of an artistic residence in Stuttgart.

    He was a resident in Hangar during 2014-2016. He has worked and exhibited in contexts such as Santa Monica Art Center (Barcelona), BCN Producció, La Capella (Barcelona), Hangar (Barcelona), Borges Cultural Center (Buenos Aires), ISEA 2016 (Hong Kong), WKV Kunstverein (Stuttgart). He combines his artist activity with design projects to create specialized interfaces. He is currently a resident artist in Trama 34 (cultural association IP7), Cultural District of L’Hospitalet,
    Barcelona.
