Joel Ong is a Singaporean artist who has most recently completed a Masters in Biological Arts degree at SymbioticA in the University of Western Australia. He is primarily interested in the definitions of listening that are developed from interdisciplinary backgrounds, extending from scientific explorations of physical resonance, vibratory conductance, to the psychological, anthropological and imaginative premise of embodiment. His most recent work amplified the nanoscale vibrations on an artificial eardrum in order to represent its listening activity within its environment.
