Artist, Lecturer and PhD candidate (RMIT University, Melbourne). John uses both traditional and digital techniques to create still and time-based images. John has worked in scenic art and design in: TV, film, museum exhibition, opera, ballet, theatre and private commissions. He has created digital FX and animation for TV, worked as an art director and director and toured nationally and internationally as a VJ. Currently John provides concept, design and technical leadership in a range of screen media. John is also completing a PhD at RMIT University, Melbourne, in the School of Media and Communication.
John’s recent creative practice has been in generative processes for 2D art, animation and interactive, generative video installation and live performance. Venues and clients have included: Macedon Ranges Shire Council; Hamer Hall, Melbourne Arts centre, RMIT Vice Chancellor’s office; White Night Festival (in 2013, ’16,’17); C3 gallery, Abbotsford convent; Federation Square, for Lights in Winter festival; Australian Effects and Animation Festival, Sydney (finalist), ATOM Awards (finalist); Melbourne International Comedy Festival; Crown Towers; Spotlight Furniture; Melbourne Design Festival; Deakin University, Rainbow Serpent Festival.
