    Pat Badani is an artist, researcher, writer, and editor, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Badani received her Bachelor in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta (Canada). MFA School of the Art Institute of Chicago (U.S.A). She lives in Chicago and often works in Montreal, or elsewhere in the globe. She has travelled to exhibit and/or talk about her work in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Canada, the USA, France, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, Ireland, Italy, Australia, and Turkey. Her work has been showcased in international contexts: ISEA; Transmediale; Balance-Unbalance; New Forms Festival; FILE; Festival Internacional de la Imagen; Espacio Fundación Telefónica; Canadian Cultural Center Paris; Maison de L’Amerique Latine, Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico; and Museo de Monterrey.

    Pat Badani, Editor in Chief, New Media Caucus, USA. Pat (MFA, School of the Art Institute of Chicago) is an arts practitioner, critical thinker, educator, editor, and curator. Born in Argentina, she has lived and worked out of Mexico, France, Canada, and the USA. Badani is currently on the Board of Directors of ISEA International, and lead Guest Editor of “Artelogie, Vol #11”, EHESS (L’École des hautes études en sciences sociales), Paris, France. From 2010 to 2016 she was Editor-in-Chief of Media-N Journal and executive board officer of The New Media Caucus. She held full-time academic positions in the USA at Columbia College Chicago and at Illinois State University.

    Badani’s praxis is concept and context driven and involves artistic production, research and writing around such topics as inhabitation, transculturality, human migration, and sustainable living. Her work engages experimental new media in net-artworks, responsive screen-based installations involving motion capture and interaction design, as well as Augmented Reality experiences in public space using Android and iOS mobile devices.

    Badani exhibits her projects broadly in North and South America, Europe, and Asia, and participates in international symposia with her works and papers. She has received more than 20 awards and commissions including a 2016 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship at MacDowell Residency, and a DCASE Award for her project “Comestible” dealing with the relationship between food, science, technology, agriculture, and climate change; a 2012 “Robert Heinecken Trust Fund” for her ongoing media art-science project “AL GRANO” dealing with GM corn debates between the USA and Mexico; and a one-year media arts research grant in 2001 (Canada Council for the Arts) for her transnational interactive migration project “Where are you from?_Stories”.

    Pat Badani, USA, is an artist, researcher, educator and writer exploring the relationship between new media and social practice. Currently she is working on two projects involving transdisciplinary research and exchange. She is director of “Al-Grano,” a project investigating GM maize contamination in Mexico (forthcoming is a feature article about the project in “Nouvelle Revue d’Esthétique,” by Catherine Bédard, Paris.) Badani is also international network research partner in the collaborative project “RhyCycling – Esthetics of sustainability in the Basel border area,” funded by The Swiss National Science Foundation.Badani has received over twenty grants and commissions for her work.

    In 2002 she was awarded a major one-year Canada Council Research Grant to develop her multi-sited new media project “Where are you from?_Stories” dealing with transcultural migration. Her works and research are showcased in international venues such as: ISEA2000 (Paris, France) and ISEA2009 (Belfast, N. Ireland); FILE – International Electronic Festival & Symposium (Brazil); Espacio Fundación Telefónica (Argentina); Watershed Media Center (UK); MECAD Media Art Center (Spain); New Forms Festival, Hexagram Research Institute, Owens University Art Gallery, and Museum  London (Canada); Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo Universitario del Chopo, and Museo de Monterrey (Mexico); Canadian Cultural Center, Maison de l’Amérique Latine, and Artelogie/EHESS (France).

    Essays about Badani’s works have been published in catalogues, art-magazines, and in books. Her own essays on new media and interculturality have been published in both English and Spanish languages in online and print journals, and in books. Badani has acted as peer-reviewer for several publications and symposia. Currently, she is Editor in Chief of “Media-N, Journal of the New Media Caucus.” She has lectured and occupied full-time academic positions in the USA where she created and taught the first Integrated Media curriculum in the School of Art at Illinois State University.

    She was also full time lecturer and Acting Director of the Interdisciplinary Media Arts MFA program at Columbia College Chicago. Badani is a member of LEF (Leonardo Education Forum); NMC (New Media Caucus); CAA (College Art Association); AICA-USA (International Association of Art Critics), and IVSA (International Visual Sociology Association).
