Philip Long worked as graphic designer in a variety of design positions, including in-house art departments, design studios and advertising agencies. He has had a long career in design education, currently holding the position of Senior Lecturer at Southampton Solent University where he specialises in teaching graphics, typography and motion graphics. Research interests are broad and practical based within the field of communication design, with a focus upon photographic and drawing practice.
