Abstract:
This paper formulates a critical vocabulary with which to understand holographic art. The aesthetics of holography, from the point of view of theories of perception and representation, are discussed. The paper challenges the assumption that holographic art is synonymous with kitsch and novelty items said in specialized stores. It also challenges the notion that holography is exclusively an art of space, revealing it as a time-based medium.
