Abstract:

  • The City of Dortmund is the biggest in the Ruhr region and has been home to one of the most important media art addresses in Germany since 1996: the Hartware MedienKunstVerein (HMKV). In the Dortmunder U, where HMKV (amongst others) has relocated recently, the city has an innovative centre for art and creativity that radiates through the entire region. The programme of ISEA2010 RUHR takes place principally in the area around Brückstraße, where various cultural institutions will be presenting a range of exhibitions and concerts during the week of the conference. The conference schedule begins in the morning with three parallel panels on a central theme. A large number of smaller events on more specific topics follow at lunch and continue in the afternoon. The keynote lectures start the evening programme followed by formal concerts and a pleasant conclusion to the day in a relaxed club atmosphere. Wednesday is devoted to excursions in which the ISEA 2010 participants can discover different locations and partner events in the region.
